Beatz Tv Album Review Money doesn't stop nonsense on Oritsefemi's MSN album Lacklustre production, a lack of direction, and bad music composition are the triplets that kill this album. Let's add sloppy lyrics, and this album is an undeniable flop.

After a few years bubbling below the mainstream, Oritsefemi (finally) cracked into the mainstream with his smashing tune 'Double Wahala' in 2013- a beautiful contemporary Afrobeat track with his blend of 'Ghetto gospel/Ghetto spirituals'.
Fame and money found its way to the 'musical taliban' after the success of 'Double Wahala'. His move to Lekki, association with superstarD'banj and acquisition of a Range Rover showed that Oritsefemi had entered the league of 'big boys' in the Nigerian music industry.
Subsequent releases 'Igbeyawo', and 'Redi Dance' were enough to keep Oritsefemi buzzing till he dropped his album. Even though it has taken quite a bit of time, Oritsefemi's new album Money Stops Nonsense (MSN) is finally here.

Unfortunately with the new money he has, nonsense is scattered all over the most important album of his career. Twenty-two tracks long, MSN is a disjointed, boring and unimaginative album from a man whose alias suggests he is here to 'blow' things up and terrorize the scene. There is nothing hot on this album. And terror is the farthest thing on your mind when you listen to it.
Oritsefemi's blatant approach to seduce the mainstream audience has left him with an album that sees him dumping his ghetto gospel genre of music for a confusing sound.
Apart from the already mentioned singles, there is nothing to enjoy on this body of work. Even 'Redi Dance'- another song dedicated to a woman's ass (predictable!) is bugged down by weird sexually suggestive lyrics such as "some girls dem dey like shawarma/while some love cucumber." This track adds nothing new to the genre of 'bum bum pop' Naija artistes love to sing about.
Lacklustre production, a lack of direction, and bad music composition are the triplets that kill this album. Let's add sloppy lyrics, and this album is an undeniable flop.

'Debe' featuring DavidoB-Red and Oluwaseun is a badly produced track with bad composition. Oritsefemi's high-pitch boiled in Auto-tune fails to blend with Davido's husky voice. On 'Sukus' featuring Harrysong the Taliban's Auto-tune drench vocals continues to irritate. The instrumental of this song is too fast paced for both artistes to catch up. Let's not forget the sloppy lyrics also. "Back to back/corner the marking/left and right/and I know you got it" sings Harrysong.
On 'Sodiyen' featuring Patoranking Oritsefemi is lost on the banging beat. The track is held back by bad composition, sloppy lyrics and another mindless song belonging in 'bum bum pop'. Not surprisingly Patoranking does a better job with his verse.

Guest acts serve as a hindrance also on the album. It feels as if Oritsefemi called his famous Lekki neighbours to jump on his album rather than create a dope track. 'Halla My Name' despite having the hot Nigerian rapper Phyno is the opposite of dope, with a limp chorus.
When it comes artistic direction also, Oritsefemi is lost. It's baffling why he would try to do trap music 'Gat Class' featuringIce Prince. The end result would be humorous if not for the fact that Oritsefemi is actually talented. 'Life Is Good' featuring M.I is another misstep. As Oritsefemi sings "life is so nice like a diamond" you can't help but wonder what this album is about.
There are a few traces of Oritsefemi who lifted spirits with 'Mercy' on this album such as 'Oju Ti Leri', and 'Culture' but sadly they are not enough to stop this album from flopping.
Puffy Tee handles thirteen tracks on this album so the bad production of this album lands on his door step. As for Oritsefemi, if he wants to play in the big leagues then he needs the proper arsenal to do that- a songwriter, a real producer and an A&R. Without these three, Oritsefemi might never produce a proper album to make him a full mainstream act.

Money Stops Nonsense lacks the charm, honesty and every day relativity that Oritsefemi has delivered in bits and pieces in the past. On this album he is lost, which makes this album direction-less, and uncreative.
