In a tragic story, a stray bullet from the gun of a suspected cultist has killed a four-month-old baby while in the arms of his mother in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
The mother of the baby, identified as Mrs. Okoro, boarded a tricycle (Keke Napep) from Eke Awka market and was heading to Amaenyi when the stray bullet suddenly hit her baby, leaving him instantly dead and the mother injured.
According to a source from the family, “The baby was dedicated in the church on 12th of July; three weeks later he was killed. What a painful experience!”
“The woman was returning from Eke Awka market and boarded Keke coming to Amenyi because she lives at Nkwelle Awka.
“Along the line, a stray bullet from the gun of a suspected cultist hit them inside the Keke and killed the baby instantly and injured the mother too.”
He source added that the deceased was the second child of his parents.
A police officer at the Central Police Station confirmed the incident, saying that investigations were ongoing.
