Have you ever found yourself trying to get out of a rut but you don't know how to go about it? Often times, we find ourselves feeling like we are trapped on a hamster wheel, spinning in circles and getting deeper into our rut. It could be any kind of rut. Marriage, friendship, financial, work, spiritual... The more we try to get out, the more we dig deeper into our rut.
I've come to the realization that we persist in doing things that do not bring the results we want because naturally, humans have an enduring spirit. So instead of getting out of a problem, we always think we can find a solution to that problem by remaining there. We think, "Oh, I'd get the promotion I need if I work here longer," "He'd marry me if I stick with him and compromise on some things..." Oh, please! Not realizing that we're stuck in the wrong place until it's too late.
So what do you do when the freeway comes to a dead stop or your life feels like it is on a dead end street? It's simple. Starve your distractions, feed your focus. Life is a one step at a time kind of game. Be intentional.
Sometimes you don’t even realize you’re in a rut until you get the feeling you should do something different. A gut feeling is often signaling strong messages that come from deep within. Inside of you, you have a strong internal wisdom.
My gut talks to me when I’m about to make a big decision. I’ve learned to respect it and listen to it and that has served me well so far (not counting the times it hasn’t). Perhaps right now you need to rely less on the opinions of others or waiting for solid facts and instead, get yourself out of that rut by also listening to your intuition.
To get things moving in a positive direction again, you may need to adjust how you think about change. The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. At times, it's necessary to tear it down so you can build again, the right way, with a stronger foundation. Walking away from a negative cycle has nothing to do with weakness, and everything to do with the strength within you. Acknowledge the situation, accept it and let it go.
Rebuild your mind, worry about improving its content. It all begins in your mind. What you give power to has power over your mind. Control your thoughts and then your actions. Again, be intentional. Being intentional would make all the difference you need.
Teiko at it again. Quite a call to be more in charge.
